The Faculty of Informatics and Digital Technologies (former Department of Informatics) is one of the newest members of the University of Rijeka. It was founded in April 2008 with the aim of bringing together IT experts mainly from the former Department of Informatics (founded in 1986) of the Faculty of Philosophy in Rijeka. Undergraduate , graduate and postgraduate doctoral studies in informatics are conducted at the Faculty.
The Diploma in Informatics enables the acquisition of competencies in current areas in industry and science, such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, microservices in the cloud, development of computer games and VR, business analytics, processing of large volumes of data and others. The continuation of studies is possible at the post-graduate doctoral study in Informatics intended for the education of future scientists and researchers.
The main activity of the Department is scientific research in the field of informatics and computer science, as well as the teaching of informatics courses at all levels of study, for students of informatics and other study programs. The department is located in modernly equipped computer classrooms and laboratories in the department building on the university campus in Trsat.
Employees of the Faculty of Informatics and Digital Technologies engage in scientific work by participating in scientific research projects and cooperating with other scientific institutions in the country and abroad. In addition to scientific projects, the Faculty of Informatics and Digital Technologies also carries out professional projects in the field of information systems development and informatization (PLAS, ISAP, SMARTY, Nutrient Master), advanced computing technology (NVIDIA CUDA Teaching Center ), education in the field of informatics and computing as well as e-learning and advanced teaching technologies (e-college development projects).
